Urban furniture for Huet Square.

Huet Square, in Sibiu's historic centre, remained closed to traffic and became a place to stroll and rest. The City Hall furnished it with urban furniture to an architect's design; we handled fabrication, delivery and installation.

We supplied the furniture for five areas: three zigzag steel benches that follow the line of the trees, ten concrete modules and five cylindrical concrete benches, 60, 100 and 140 cm in diameter. The zigzag benches are made of laser-cut steel plate, galvanised and painted greenish grey (RAL 7033), with parts of the seating clad in timber; one of them also has two aluminium information cases with glass display windows. The modules and the cylindrical benches are made of reinforced concrete with stone aggregate, cast in glass-fibre moulds.

In April 2021 we raised the question of the load-bearing capacity of the steel pieces and proposed new elements to reinforce them. On 26 May 2021, at the production site in Bucharest, we tested full-scale segments of the furniture with the architects, for strength and use. Changes to shape and structure and new structural elements were requested, and the technical design and the workshop drawings had to be modified.

The furniture was accepted on 15 July 2021, with a 36-month warranty.
